綿花バレル機の用途

綿は、アオイ科のゴシピウム属の種子繊維で、亜熱帯原産です。植物は低木で、熱帯地域では高さ6メートルに成長し、通常は1〜2メートルです。花はクリーム色で、開花後すぐに深紅に変わり、やがてしおれ、小さな緑色のカプセル（綿実）を残します。綿実の中には綿の種子があります。綿の種子の表皮から毛が生え、綿実の内部を満たしています。綿実が成熟すると、裂けて柔らかい繊維が現れます。繊維は白または白に黄みがかかり、長さは約2〜4cm（0.75〜1.5インチ）で、セルロースが約87〜90％、水分5〜8％、その他の物質4〜6％を含みます。最も綿の生産量が多い国には中国、アメリカ合衆国、インドがあります。

綿で何ができる？
